Recently, a new WhatsApp tool was announced that will help make the messaging app even more secure.

Now, it is possible to have protection in conversations exchanged by WhatsApp, being able to hide the chat on the application's home screen.

This protected conversation will go to a security folder, named “Protected conversations”.

The conversations saved in this folder can only be accessed through a password, defined by the user, or using biometrics, with fingerprint or facial recognition.

The app's developers announced that this new feature also makes conversation content hidden in notifications automatically.

How to use the new WhatsApp tool?

This new WhatsApp feature helps maintain privacy, especially if many people can access the device.

New account theft tool

In addition to updating hidden chats in the application, WhatsApp also announced some changes this year to bring more protection to the user.

Thus, in order to avoid account thefts, the application now asks for confirmation on the old device, when transferring accounts between two cell phones.

This helps the user to know if someone is trying to transfer their conversations, stealing their account. The measure will block the action if the user is not performing it.

This check takes place as follows:

  • WhatsApp asks, through the old cell phone, if you authorize account migration to another device;
  • The alert brings information, such as the cell phone model to which the account will be transferred;
  • The application also informs the user that, when transferring the account, it will be removed from the old cell phone.

This measure developed by the company aims to prevent scams and account thefts, preventing, in this case, the unauthorized transfer of an account.

With this new feature, it is expected that there will be fewer cases of profile theft when the user shares an application verification code with others.

But what if the cell phone is stolen or stolen?

In these cases of theft or robbery, or even loss of the device, where the user loses access to the old cell phone, it is possible to request a second password that is for one-time use.

This measure can also be used when the device breaks down or in any situation where you can no longer have access to the old device.

Using this one-time password, the user will be able to recover their account by transferring everything to a new device.
