What is Emergency Aid and who is entitled to it?

O Emergency Aid is a financial benefit created by the Brazilian government with the aim of helping informal workers, self-employed people, micro-entrepreneurs and low-income families with a monthly allowance of R$ 600 during the pandemic.

O Emergency Aid was created during the pandemic COVID-19 in 2020, in which workers had to adapt to maintain their business and even their companies. Therefore, this aid helped to maintain the income of Brazilians.

Therefore, all those who are informal, self-employed workers, individual micro-entrepreneurs (MEI) and also members of needy families who do not have an income that exceeds a minimum wage and a half, may be entitled to receive the Emergency Aid.

However, new registrations are not being accepted for the 2022 Emergency Aid. Only people who register in 2020 may be entitled to receive this benefit.

How does the 2022 Emergency Aid work?

Nowadays, according to Provisional Measure 1.039/2021, only One member of each registered family may receive the Emergency Aid in 2022. The portion of the benefit will be divided as follows: part of it will go to female heads of household, an amount of approximately R$ 375.00.

For people who are part of low-income families and who live alone, they will be able to receive around R$ 150.00. And those who work as micro-entrepreneurs, self-employed people and informal workers will receive an amount of more or less R$ 250.00.

But to receive the 2022 Emergency AidYou must meet some requirements. For example, being over 18 years old, not having a formal job and having a family income of at most half the minimum wage and not having any family member who earns more than 3 minimum wages.

And as we mentioned above, those who already receive the Bolsa Familia can request the Emergency Aid, as long as it is a higher amount than what they already receive in subsistence assistance under the social program. Therefore, the person responsible for receiving the benefit will decide which of the two they would like to receive. The Emergency Aid installments already fall into the account of the Bolsa Família Program.

How do I know if I will receive my Emergency Aid installment?
