Anyone who has already entered the Detran Auction can see that vehicle prices are well below market prices. But why are they so cheap?

The vehicles auctioned by Detran are, for the most part, seized for irregularities on documentation or on the vehicle. When auctioned, the need for this regularization is taken into account, resulting in lower prices.

Vehicles that go to the Detran Auction can come from three situations:

  1. Vehicles seized in blitz – these vehicles are seized due to irregularities in the car or motorcycle, and/or irregularities in the documentation.
  2. Vehicles involved in accidents – these vehicles are seized at the scene of accidents due to non-compliance;
  3. Fleet change vehicles – are vehicles exchanged from the fleets of public bodies.

You vehicles seized in blitz, are placed in the Detran yard, and remain there until the owner regularizes the entire situation and pays for the time the vehicle was in the yard.

The costs can be expensive, depending on regularizations and the time the vehicle remains impounded, so many owners give up on recovering their vehicles. These then go to auction to cover costs and raise funds.

You vehicles seized in accidents, they also go to the yard, where the parts that were not damaged are auctioned, or the vehicles are sold as scrap.

Already the fleet change vehicles, are discarded by public bodies, which use the auction money to raise funds. These vehicles are usually in excellent condition, as they undergo regular inspections.
